Solicitation Spotlight: Superman #36

After the shocking events of DC K.O., Superman is missing. But one hero steps up to take his place... Superboy Prime?! Normally, Prime has only been part of massive DC events, but now he gets a real shot at showing the world he can be just as great a hero as Superman! Superstar artist Dan Mora returns to Superman for an action-packed and fun adventure that changes the face of the DC Universe!.

Superboy Prime is a polarizing figure among fans; some hate to love him, some love to hate him. The controversial character had finally been redeemed and given his happily ever after send-off in the aftermath of "Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths" to never be seen again. Turns out that never keeps getting shorter and shorter, because the divisive teenager has returned for the "All-In" era in a big way.

Despite his obnoxious personality, and the inherent evil that defines him, I don't have too much of an issue with Superboy Prime. What I don't like is the breaking the fourth wall aspect of him. That only works for Marvel's She-Hulk -and even then when used sparingly- so I wish that writers stopped doing that with the Boy of Steel from Earth Prime.

The upcoming "Reign of the Superboys" arc looks interesting and promising, but I am proceeding with caution.

Superman #36 will be available on 03/25/2026.
